About Monica

Monica Cawvey Gallagher, CFRE

Principal

Monica has over 20 years of experience as a frontline fundraiser. Starting her career in Chicago, she was the Associate Director of Development at Meadville Lombard Theological School. She then held positions at the Museum of Science and Industry and the Field Museum. In 2006, she moved to Philadelphia to be Vice President for Development at the National Constitution Center, where she served for six years. Following that, she led the development function at the University City Science Center and the Academy of Natural Sciences before founding Three Foxes.

Throughout her career, she’s rebuilt development departments and created fundraising programs from scratch. She knows how to startup, grow, and transition.

Monica’s areas of expertise include fundraising strategy, development department structure and growth, recruitment and hiring, governance, nonprofit technology and information management, grant writing, revenue diversification, individual giving, corporate giving, foundation giving, and training and coaching.

Monica is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and a Certified Fund Raising Executive.

Volunteer Work

She gives her time as a volunteer with NYC Shiba Rescue, as a member of the Development Committee at Eastern State Penitentiary (formerly a Board member, as well), as a member of Providence Animal Center’s Advancement Committee, a Board member for Ozark AcousChicks Women’s A Capella Chorus, and as a volunteer with Friends of Ferals Willow Springs in Missouri.

Personal Life

Monica grew up in Missouri and earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Missouri, Columbia before moving to Chicago, where she earned her Master’s degree at the University of Chicago.
